Important areas of research activities of the department are
- study of morphofunctional changes in the interaction of a transplant and various implants with biological tissues;
- study of the interaction of laser and LED radiation between artificial, biological materials and body tissues from the point of view of healing of surgical wounds;
The head of the department in 1978-2021 was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.M. Baybekov. During this period, more than 35 doctoral dissertations were defended, including 6 in the field of pathological anatomy.
Also, more than 100 candidate dissertations and their pathomorphological parts were completed, and more than 700 scientific articles were published, including more than 100 in foreign scientific journals.
To date, the department, together with the department of experimental surgery, as well as clinical departments of a number of centers and other centers and institutes, has published more than 15 parts of candidate and doctoral dissertations, more than 75 articles in scientific journals of foreign and domestic publications, as well as 3 monographs, and received more than 5 copyright certificates.

The service "Department of pathohistological, morphological and scientific research" consists of three functional units:
- biopsy;
- cytology;
- analysis of research materials.
- Kafedra dastlab “Patologik anatomiya kafedrasi” nomini olgan va 1976 yilda jarrohlik markazi negizida tashkil etilgan;
– 2022-yildan boshlab kafedra “Patogistologik, morfologik va ilmiy tadqiqot bo‘limi” deb nomlandi va o‘z faoliyatini davom ettirmoqda.
– Kafedrada har yili 9000 ga yaqin klinik va 200 ga yaqin ilmiy biopsiya va sitologik materiallar morfologik tahlil qilinadi.
– Kafedraning asosiy shtatini 11 nafar xodim, jumladan, 2 nafar shifokor, 5 nafar laborant va 3 nafar kichik tibbiyot xodimlari tashkil etadi.
– Mutaxassislarimiz malakasini oshirish va ta’lim olish uchun vaqti-vaqti bilan xorijga jo‘natiladi.
