From February 16 to 20, 2025, a Large-Scale Charity Campaign for Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Was Held at the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Surgery Named After Academician V. Vakhidov
A large-scale charity campaign to provide cardiac surgical assistance to children with congenital heart defects took place at the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov. The project was implemented with the support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Muslim World League, bringing together leading cardiac surgeons from Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
Results of the Charity Initiative
During the project, approximately 100 children underwent a comprehensive medical examination, and surgeries were performed on 80 patients. Over seven days, 30 highly qualified specialists from Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with their Uzbek colleagues, successfully conducted 20 open-heart surgeries and more than 60 endovascular procedures.
The project not only helped save children's lives but also served as an important platform for experience exchange between Uzbek and Saudi medical specialists. The doctors of the Vakhidov Surgery Center adopted advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques, contributing to the further development of cardiac surgery in Uzbekistan.
International Cooperation in Healthcare
This initiative is a vivid example of fruitful cooperation between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. The project was made possible through the efforts of the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs of both countries, as well as the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The joint efforts are aimed at developing the healthcare system and strengthening strategic partnerships.

The completion of this charity campaign took on special significance as it coincided with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan—a time of mercy, compassion, and good deeds. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Muslim World League continue to implement important humanitarian projects, assisting thousands of people in need worldwide.
