On August 24–25, 2026, a landmark event in the country's transplant history is taking place at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov — for the first time in Uzbekistan, a robot-assisted kidney transplantation from a living related donor is being performed.

The first surgery was successfully completed on August 24. Today, the recipient is recovering in the specialized department: the transplanted kidney functions satisfactorily, diuresis is adequate, and laboratory parameters show positive dynamics.

Today, on August 25, a robot-assisted kidney transplant is being performed on the second patient. The surgery is proceeding successfully.

Two related "donor–recipient" pairs from Fergana and Tashkent regions were prepared for these procedures. The initial operations are being conducted by the Center's specialists in collaboration with an international expert.

The introduction of robot-assisted kidney transplantation marks a new milestone in the history of Uzbek surgery and organ transplantation. While patients previously had to seek such high-tech medical treatment in foreign clinics, this advanced technology is now being implemented in our country.

Crucially, all pre-operative examinations, patient preparation, surgical treatment, and subsequent rehabilitation are fully funded and provided free of charge for the patients through the "VAQF" Public Charitable Foundation.

Complex technologies that were once exclusive to leading global clinics are now serving our patients right here in Uzbekistan.
