Echocardiography-Guided BMV: Performing modified balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMV) under echocardiographic guidance with minimal or zero fluoroscopy provides precise multipositional navigation, minimizes radiation exposure, and eliminates the need for radiocontrast agents.
Modified Stylet (Patent No. IAP 7690): The introduction of a modified stylet with additional bends improves Inoue balloon catheter maneuverability and reduces specific complications such as cardiac perforation and severe mitral regurgitation.
Pregnant Patients: BMV in pregnant women effectively improves central hemodynamics and reduces the resistance index in uterine arteries, avoiding radiocontrast use entirely and lowering radiation exposure by 3.3 times.
Atrial Fibrillation (AF): AF significantly worsens long-term outcomes (5-year survival rates were 80.9% in patients with AF vs. 100% in sinus rhythm). A risk-scoring scale based on Cox regression analysis was developed to predict adverse long-term events.
Multidisciplinary Approach: Continuous collaboration among interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, rhythmologists, echocardiographers, and obstetricians is essential for optimizing patient selection and long-term prognosis.
