The State Institution "Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov" is becoming a leading clinical and research institution not only in our country but also in Central Asia. In recent years, the center has been introducing advanced treatment methods with the goal of expanding their use even in remote regions.

Let us begin by briefly highlighting the achievements of the center itself. According to data, 7,030 surgeries were performed here last year, of which 5,963 (84%) were high-tech procedures. Additionally, 16 types of complex surgeries were performed for the first time.

The significance of unique procedures carried out in collaboration with leading specialists from Russia, China, the USA, and other countries cannot be overstated. Furthermore, 54 doctors from the center underwent advanced training in countries such as the USA, Germany, Russia, China, Turkey, India, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.

— To make specialized medical care available at the district level, we have begun transforming 28 districts (cities) — two from each region — into model and advanced areas in 2025, — says the center's director, Saidmurod Ismailov. — In several regions, we are conducting medical examinations of patients and organizing masterclasses for local specialists. Our most experienced doctors are traveling from the capital to help the population recover from severe illnesses.

In 28 districts, research activities have been initiated. Based on these, around 100 local specialists — surgeons and other related professionals — were invited to train at the center. They were familiarized with the institution's processes and had their skills in applying innovative treatment methods improved.

It is important to note that these efforts are not one-time initiatives! Specialists are studying the material and technical infrastructure, doctor qualifications, and the activities of related departments in the regions, working with local administrations to develop plans for improvement.

In collaboration with the Center for Professional Development of Medical Workers, 5-month training courses have been introduced. Starting February 1, selected specialists from 28 districts will undergo training. They are expected to implement at least one high-tech or minimally invasive surgical method in their regions.

Thirteen highly qualified specialists from the center were sent to the regions for permanent work for one year.

Last year, more than 20 new treatment and diagnostic methods were introduced in regional branches. For example, in Jizzakh — AKSH on a working heart using the mini-thoracotomy method, in Fergana — laparoscopic alloplasty, heterotopic kidney transplantation, donor nephrectomy, in Bukhara — circular tracheal resection.

Currently, kidney transplantation has been established in the Akaltyn (Syrdarya), Zamin (Jizzakh), Denov (Surkhandarya), Vobkent (Bukhara) districts, and the city of Kokand (Fergana).

This year, plans include introducing 12 new treatment and diagnostic methods in district hospitals, 18 in regional branches, and 20 in the center itself.

Additionally, the establishment of a model transplantology service, at least five types of robot-assisted surgeries, and equipping operating rooms with the latest technological equipment are planned.

The goal is to improve surgical services in the center and regional multi-disciplinary medical facilities using artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

To achieve this, experienced specialists from Germany, Russia, and Belarus will be invited to work permanently at the center. Uzbek specialists will also undergo training in prestigious foreign clinics.

Through these efforts, the number of foreign patients at the center is expected to triple, and in the regions — double, increasing the volume of medical services provided to 3 million dollars.
