  • About the department

    - In 1960, the first specialized department of pulmonary and thoracic surgery with 25 beds was established in the republic under the leadership of V. Vohidov.;

    - The department of pulmonary and thoracic surgery was expanded to 40 beds in 1975 within the walls of a new building;

    - Over 50 years, the department has performed 10,155 thoracic operations, the postoperative mortality rate in the general hospital is 2.3%;

    - From 2009 to February 2024, the department was headed by the chief thoracic surgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor Shuhrat Nurmatovich Khudaybergenov.

    - The department performs more than 400 high-tech pulmonary and thoracic operations per year;

    - The team of the department is one of the leaders in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the CIS countries in the field of tracheal, pulmonary and thoracic surgery;

    - The team consists of 7 surgeons.

    - The department has 25 positions

    - Every year, specialists are sent abroad for training/advanced training

    - Joint operations on respiratory and thoracic organs are regularly carried out with colleagues from the CIS countries
