Condolences on the passing of Mikhail Ivanovich Davydov

The Republican Society of Surgeons of Uzbekistan and the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after academician V. Vakhidov express their deepest condolences on the passing of the outstanding surgeon-oncologist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Mikhail Ivanovich Davydov.

The medical community of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries has suffered a great loss. At the age of 78, after a prolonged illness, Mikhail Ivanovich Davydov—a legendary clinician, an outstanding oncologist-surgeon, a great teacher, and a healthcare organizer—passed away.

Mikhail Ivanovich Davydov made an invaluable contribution to the development of global oncological surgery. For many years, he maintained close cooperation with the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after academician V. Vakhidov. Specialists from our center regularly underwent internships at the N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology, adopting advanced techniques and unique experiences from the oncological school created by Mikhail Ivanovich. The results of multidisciplinary joint scientific research were implemented into the clinical practice of our centers. He visited Uzbekistan multiple times, conducted demonstrative surgeries, shared his knowledge, and actively participated in scientific conferences and educational programs. His contribution to the development of oncological surgery in our country is immeasurable, and his professional and mentoring activities have left a deep mark in the hearts of Uzbek surgeons. We deeply appreciate Mikhail Ivanovich Davydov’s role in the advancement of oncological science and surgery.

On behalf of the entire medical community of the Republic of Uzbekistan, we express our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mikhail Ivanovich. May the memory of this great doctor, scientist, and human being live on forever.
